MIDDLE RIVER, Maryland —
It’s been a good year for little ones in front of my camera.
I met baby Charlie and his mom and dad for coffee one day at Zeke’s in Baltimore to discuss the idea of collaborating on family portraits. Charlie was about to turn one and his parents wanted to mark the occasion with pictures.
For more than an hour during our meeting, while his parents and I talked portraits, prints, and products, baby Charlie sat by entertaining himself, happy as can be, smiling any time I looked in his direction.
The day of the portrait session was no different.
We met early one morning along the hiking trail at Gunpowder Falls State Park. I had no trouble getting Charlie’s attention for the camera whenever I needed it, though he did get distracted by my flash from time to time.
What a darling.
The portrait session lasted more than an hour, and Charlie put up with me the whole time. No fussing. No crying. Just hanging out and experiencing the dirt, water, flashing lights, and trees surrounding him.
The same held true for our ordering appointment a week later.
I oftentimes don’t recommend children under 10 attending my photo reveal sessions so that their parents can be distraction-free when they choose their favorite portraits. My little man Charlie was the exception, however. He sat and played with his toys while mom and dad thumbed through their gallery and chose their wall portraits.
I was impressed.
Thank you baby Charlie, Jordan, and Carly for a wonderful family portrait session at Gunpowder Falls State Park. May you cherish your heirlooms for a lifetime to come.
