My friends had another baby, y’all!
James & Pattie added a beautiful land angel named Pepper to their family this past June. This little girls is going to break many hearts, and I look forward to watching her grow.
Having collaborated with me in November for their family portraits with their eldest son, Jack, I gifted them a newborn session and an 8x10 canvas gallery wrap so that Pepper could be added to the family portrait mix as well.
We met at my home office one Saturday morning in June and began our session with family portraits. This portion of the session went incredibly smoothly and I naively assumed Pepper’s individual portraits would be a cake walk as well.
She had woken up not long after the group shots were taken and was intent on staying alert for as long as possible.
I posed her and took pictures anyway because I personally enjoy newborn portraits when the newborn is awake. Their eyes will never look like that again.
But there came a time when the poses and outfit changes we had in mind would require a sleeping baby, so James, Pattie and I went to work on trying to get her to sleep.
And work it was.
Three and a half hours of rocking, shooshing, feeding, changing, rocking, and feeding some more, Pepper finally decided she had given it her all, closed her eyes, and drifted off to dreamland.
Once she was out I began moving through the poses and props quickly. We created a variety of images of Pepper with bows, Chuck's, guitars, and a fox hats, which were especially adorable.
After our formal portraits in the studio, I was able to capture a few information shots with mom and dad on my back deck, which turned out to be some of my favorite images from the session.
