SHADY SIDE, MD --
A little more than a year ago I began collaborating with two beautiful friends on documenting their son, Brandt's, first year of life.
From Natalia and Byron's maternity portrait session at Cedarhurst Park in Shady Side, to Brandt's Christening at Christ Church in Port Republic, all the way through to his first birthday and cake smash session in May 2016, I've watched Brandt grow before my very lens.
It feels like yesterday I met this handsome little man, and yet, so very much has changed about his appearance it's almost hard to believe it's the same kid. He's gone from dark hair to light, straight locks to curly Q's and back again.
Some things were evident from the start, though, like his delightful dimple on his right cheek, as well as his "malleable" nature, as his dad likes to say.
It was a very exciting prospect for me to be able stop by the family home every four months to check in and see how everyone was doing. We spent much of the time in his nursery, which is decorated with a mural by the gifted Annapolis artist, Charles Lawrence, which I gladly used during his one-year-old session for a composite of Brandt "swimming" under water.
Now that all the sessions for Brandt's First Year plan have been completed I'm putting the finishing touches on the family's custom heirloom album now, which will include handwritten letters to Brandt from his close family.
Designed using Tamara Lackey's Lush Album, I'm excited to see the finished product, especially the museum quality giclée paper. In addition to the animal and environmentally friendly qualities of Lush Albums, I also love the fact that 50% of the proceeds benefit BeautifulTogether.org
