Engagement Portraits on the Magothy River
Severna Park, Maryland -
Scott and Jason. My first gay wedding is a little more than a month away and I am beside myself with excitement.
I was contacted by Jason earlier this year about my wedding photography services after a mutual friend recommended me. I had met his fiancé, Scott, a few times in the past, but this was the first time I had met Jason. We connected right away and decided to collaborate on the couples’ wedding photography.
As with all my wedding clients I recommended that we schedule a complimentary engagement portrait session so that we could get to know each other better and make sure our styles were a match.
We met for a sunset session at Scott’s stepmother’s house in Severna Park and utilized the picturesque Magothy River backdrop extensively. In addition to shots on the docks and around the gorgeous piece of property, we also took photos on the family’s sailboat, one of which they used on the back of the wedding invitation.
We were able to capture a ton of images, though it was hard at times to stay focused because we kept getting caught up talking, sharing stories, and laughing at each other’s jokes.
But if the purpose of the session was for us to bond and ensure we had compatible styles then I’d venture to say it was a complete success.
Now we look ahead to the end of September when the two gentlemen will say “I do” in front of their friends and family at the William Paca House in Downtown Annapolis.
